All full-time international students admitted to Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution are required to apply for a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP) in Lithuania through the external service provider VFS Global.
- Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution will provide accepted students with a mediation letter to initiate the TRP application once the Study Agreement is signed and the tuition fees have been received by Kauno kolegija.
- Important: Processing decisions regarding the issuance or renewal of TRP may take up to 2–3 months. Students are responsible for planning their application promptly to ensure they can legally reside in Lithuania by the start of the academic year. Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution cannot influence the outcome or speed of TRP procedures.
- TRP is issued for the duration of the studies with a maximum validity of 2 years and may be renewed thereafter.
- TRP can be obtained at any of the 30 VFS Global centres operating abroad. The list of centres can be found here.
Information on the documents required when applying for the TRP can be found here. - A passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the expiry date of the TRP. If the passport is valid for a shorter period, TRP will be issued for 3 months less than the passport’s validity.
- Citizens of EU/EFTA countries may enter Lithuania and stay for a period not exceeding 3 months without a permit.
Accepted students will receive more detailed information and guidance on completing the TRP application process.
