The activities of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution are regulated by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, in accordance with the procedures established by applicable legislation. The governing bodies of the institution are constituted, and their responsibilities defined, in line with the Civil Code of the Republic of Lithuania and the Law of Science and Studies. The Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution has a collegial governance structure, consisting of the Council and the Academic Board, alongside a sole executive body – the Director.
To ensure the implementation of employee representation rights as set out in the Labour Code of the Republic of Lithuania, a Labour Council operates at Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution.
The interests of students at Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution are represented by the Students’ Representative Council. This is an independent, non-profit, non-religious, and non-political organisation, which students join to contribute to the enhancement of the academic experience, fulfil a public service role, and engage in meaningful activities during their free time outside of lectures.
Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution has a trade union representing its employees. It is a voluntary, independent, and self-governing organisation, operating in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania, the Law on Trade Unions, and other relevant legislation of the Republic of Lithuania.
The Statute of Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution outlines the name, registered office address, legal form, goals, and objectives of the institution’s activities, as well as the areas and types of activity it engages in. It also defines the fundamental principles for the organisation of science and studies, the structure of the institution’s governing bodies and their respective competences, the procedures for their election (appointment, convocation) and dismissal, and the rights, duties, and responsibilities of students and staff. The Statute further details the procedures for student admission and dismissal, the formation of commissions to resolve disputes between students, the administration, and other employees, as well as the processes for examining such disputes and implementing decisions. It specifies the sources of funding, the management of property and funds, the procedures for establishing branches and representative offices, their dissolution, and the process for amending the Statute, along with other aspects of the Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution’s operations.
