
Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine visits Kauno kolegija
On 8 May, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the Republic of Ukraine visited Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution: Dr Yulia Ovchynnykova, Chair of the Ukraine–Lithuania Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group, and Dr Maksym Dyrdin, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Legal Policy and Head of the Subcommittee on Political Reform and Constitutional Law.
During a meeting with Dr Inga Stravinskienė, Vice Director for Research and Development at Kauno kolegija, Dr Tomas Makaveckas, Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technologies, and Dr Saulius Mickevičius, Head of the Engineering Study Centre, opportunities for cooperation with Ukrainian universities were discussed.
The discussions focused on double degree studies, student and staff exchange programmes, joint applied research, and the development of more active academic cooperation between Lithuanian and Ukrainian higher education institutions.
‘This visit is an important step in strengthening our ties with the Ukrainian academic community. We are convinced that the joint activities discussed – from exchange programmes to applied research – will open up even broader opportunities to co-create solutions with high added value,’ says Dr I. Stravinskienė.
During the meeting, the study programmes, faculties, and research areas of Kauno kolegija were also presented. Particular attention was paid to cyber security, tactical medicine, and research, as well as opportunities to strengthen international partnerships in these fields.
‘Cooperation with Lithuanian higher education institutions is one of the key goals of the Republic of Ukraine in the field of higher education, aiming for Ukraine’s integration into the European Higher Education Area. Kauno kolegija is seen as a reliable and long-term partner,’ noted Dr Y. Ovchynnykova.
During the visit, the deputies also met with Ukrainian students Volodymyr Duma and Andrii Holiachuk, who are studying Geodesy at Kauno kolegija under an exchange programme. The guests were interested in the students’ learning experiences, the academic environment, and their achievements.
