Visit of Kauno kolegija representatives to the USA: strengthening ties with innovation leaders and universities

Last week, Dr Inga Stravinskienė, Vice Director for Research and Development at Kauno kolegija, and Dr Tomas Makaveckas, Dean of the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technologies, visited the United States of America (USA). They were part of a Lithuanian ICT delegation organised by the Innovation Agency Lithuania and Infobalt.

‘During our visits to San Francisco and Los Angeles, we gained deeper insights into the world’s most prominent tech businesses, startups, innovation platforms, and universities, as well as a highly effective innovation ecosystem,’ shares Dr I. Stravinskienė.

The representatives from Kauno kolegija also participated in a pitch session and training led by Stanford University Professor Jeff Cabili at the Nordic Innovation House in Silicon Valley. Furthermore, they met with the leadership, professors, and alumni of the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, and visited the offices of Amazon Web Services, Netflix, and Google Venice.

‘We also met with Lithuanians holding leadership positions in several of these companies, strengthened and expanded our professional network, and discussed opportunities to enhance this ecosystem in Lithuania,’ says Dr I. Stravinskienė.

The Lithuanian delegation participated in the North American Lithuanian Business Forum (NALB Forum) in Los Angeles, which brings together business leaders, professionals, and key stakeholders from the innovation ecosystem.

‘During the visit, we also visited our partners at California State University, Chico, to expand our cooperation in the field of technology. We met with David G. Alexander, Dean of the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management, and members of the faculty. We toured the laboratories and discussed future exchange visits for lecturers and students, as well as other collaboration opportunities in developing an Excellence Hub in cyber security,’ shares Dr I. Stravinskienė, Deputy Director for Research and Strategic Development.
