Kauno kolegija strengthens strategic partnership with Caucasus University

In its 2026–2030 Strategy, Kauno kolegija Higher Education Institution has solidified the importance of internationalisation: all activities of the institution are horizontally integrated by two core principles – digital transformation and internationalisation. These principles shape the institution’s direction, culture, and long-term development. In response to this priority, international cooperation is being consistently developed and strengthened.

Yesterday, Kauno kolegija hosted a delegation from Georgia: Kakha Shengelia, President of Caucasus University, and Irena Melua, Vice President for Internationalisation. During a meeting with Dr Andrius Brusokas, Director of Kauno kolegija, Jolanta Bareikienė, Vice Director for Studies, and Povilas Beseckas, Head of the International Relations Unit, the parties discussed the strengthening of cooperation, prospects for double degree programmes, and the promotion of joint applied research activities.

From double degree programmes to active involvement in UNINOVIS

Jolanta Bareikienė, Vice Director for Studies, revealed that Caucasus University is a long-term partner, with international cooperation dating back to 2014.

‘Representatives of Caucasus University have attended several International Weeks at our institution, while our lecturers have visited their university under the Erasmus+ exchange programme. Caucasus University is distinguished by its high quality standards, so the impressions are always excellent,’ says J. Bareikienė.

The primary goal of yesterday’s meeting was to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation at a strategic level. P. Beseckas, Head of the International Relations Unit, noted that this was the first meeting between the top leadership of both institutions, allowing them to define strategic guidelines and identify specific opportunities for collaboration across various fields.

During the visit, ongoing activities were reviewed, and ways to expand cooperation into a broader field of action were explored. According to P. Beseckas, it was agreed to enrich current academic exchange activities with joint projects and applied research initiatives.

‘The meeting took into account the strategic objectives of both Kauno kolegija and Caucasus University – the development and implementation of double degree programmes, the attraction of international students, and the promotion of joint applied research,’ shares the Head of the International Relations Unit.

As Caucasus University is an associate partner of the UNINOVIS Alliance, the meeting also touched upon more active involvement of the university in the alliance’s activities.

‘Every meeting with partners helps us get to know each other better and identify new areas for collaboration, which give rise to new co-creation initiatives,’ P. Beseckas concludes.
