Structural changes: Faculty of Medicine is renamed to Faculty of Health Sciences
In order to successfully adapt to market changes and ensure the effective implementation of strategic goals, Kauno kolegija is initiating structural changes. One such change is that, as of September 1st, the Faculty of Medicine will become the Faculty of Health Sciences.
According to the Dean of the Faculty, Dr Aurelija Radzevičienė, the transition from the Faculty of Medicine to the Faculty of Health Sciences is strategically sound and aligns with modern higher education trends, the actual content of the study programmes, the faculty’s fields of activity, and public health needs.
‘The new name reflects a broader spectrum of studies, expands the faculty’s identity, increases its competitiveness, and better represents an innovative approach to the field of health sciences,’ says Dr A. Radzevičienė.
The Dean notes that the current name, the Faculty of Medicine, implies a narrower field closely associated with the medical profession. However, the programmes conducted at the faculty cover a much wider range, including nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, oral health care, occupational therapy, medical technologies, cosmetology, and other fields of study.
‘The new name also aligns with international higher education practices. This change will allow Kauno kolegija to position itself more clearly in the international arena, facilitating easier partner identification and enhancing participation in international networks and project activities,’ emphasises Dr A. Radzevičienė.
Changes in the organisational structure
Please be reminded that the organisational structure of Kauno kolegija changed as of July 1, 2026. These changes were approved by a resolution during the Council meeting held on March 19.
In the Faculty of Business, 5 departments have been reorganised into 3 centres: the Management and Business Innovation Centre, the Finance and Data Analytics Centre, and the Marketing and Digital Communication Centre.
In the Faculty of Medicine, 5 departments have been reorganised into 3 centres: the Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, the Health Technology, Nutrition and Cosmetology Centre, and the Oral Health Centre.
